The Story

The Hands Behind my mamma

my mamma was born from the heartfelt desire to bridge the gap between the homesickness that many students and working professionals experience while living away from their families, and the comforting taste of authentic Kerala and South Indian food. The idea for this service was conceived by Shemeer Rawther, a visionary with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people far from home. Living in a bustling city like London, where time is scarce and home-cooked meals are often a distant memory, Shemeer realized there was a genuine need for a service that could deliver the warmth and authenticity of South Indian meals to people who longed for a taste of their roots.

Shemeer, with his love for food and a deep sense of care for his community, envisioned a solution that would allow students and professionals to experience the flavors of home no matter where they were. His commitment to helping others feel closer to their families through the simple yet powerful act of sharing a meal led to the creation of My Mamma.

But it wasn’t just Shemeer’s vision that brought My Mamma to life – it was the extraordinary talent and passion of his wife, Shameena Banu, that truly made this dream come true. Shameena is not just an exceptional cook; she is an artist in the kitchen. Her culinary skills are a gift, passed down from generations and perfected through her own passion and dedication. From the perfect balance of spices to the love and attention poured into every dish, Shameena's cooking reflects the warmth of a mother’s love and care. She believes in the power of food to bring people together and has always made sure to cook with the same devotion for her family as she does for her customers.

Shameena’s talent in the kitchen comes from a place of deep passion, which she has cultivated over the years. The authenticity and richness of every dish she creates are a testament to her natural gift and the care she puts into her cooking. She is driven not only by her desire to make her family and her customers feel nourished but by her unwavering belief that food can heal, comfort, and provide a sense of belonging.

Shameena and Shemeer's family also plays a significant role in their journey. Their two daughters, Samiyah and Jennah, are both students in London, and the couple’s dedication to preparing wholesome, nourishing meals for them has inspired much of what My Mamma is today. Despite their busy lives, Shemeer and Shameena are committed to making sure that their daughters, like all their customers, experience the joy of homemade food that reflects the rich culinary heritage of Kerala. Their love for their children is a driving force behind the care they put into every meal, making sure it’s not just food, but an expression of love and family.

Together, Shemeer and Shameena have created My Mamma as a heartfelt tribute to their love for cooking, family, and the comfort that food can bring. Their mission is to share the warmth of South Indian home-cooked meals with others, making every customer feel like they’re sitting down to a family meal – no matter where they are. Their commitment to providing high-quality, authentic meals goes beyond just satisfying hunger; it’s about creating a connection to home and a sense of belonging in a busy world.

With every meal prepared and every order served, My Mamma is more than just a tiffin service – it’s a family tradition, a taste of home, and a reminder that no matter how far we go, we always carry a little bit of home with us.
